CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM (CDM)
Malaysia is a Party to the United Nations Framework on Climate Change and has ratified the Kyoto Protocol on 4 September 2004. Through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Malaysia can voluntarily participate in globally reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG).
As a developing country, Malaysia is not bound by any commitment to reduce its GHG emission. However, through participation in the CDM, Malaysia could benefit from investment in the GHG emission reduction projects, which will also contribute towards the country's sustainable development goals and the overall improvement of the environment.
Worldwide Holdings Berhad through its subsidiary, Worldwide Lanfills Sdn Bhd had established a JV with Ecair Malaysia B.V, a Ducth based company to jointly undertake the first CDM project at Air Hitam Sanitary Landfill, Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia.

In Malaysia, as many other developing countries, there is a growing awareness of the need to continuously preserve the quality of the environment. WHB sees this as future of growth of our business. Thus, our role and involvement in the environmental management has expended over time. Another value-added portfolio which we are presently involved in is solid waste transfer station.
WHB's foray into the business of transfer station is through the design and building of a solid waste transfer station located in Shah Alam, Selangor. The Shah Alam Transfer Station (SATS) serves as a collection point for solid waste received from local municipalities in Selangor and Klang Valley.
